Hotel Management as name suggests, it is related to all functions and facilities that take place in the hotel. The services provided to the guests, from the movement they enter in your primises of the hotel until they leaves, are all covered in the process of hotel management. The responsibilities of all activities took place during guest stay is the part of hotel management. There are several different departments are engaged during this process. They are as follows.
1) FRONT DESK AND RECEPTION : Priority jobs are under covered in hotel management. When the guests arrives at the hotel, it is the " Front desk or reception" that " WELCOMES" them. Then commences the process to complete registration formalities and escorts them towards the lobby. 
2) CONCIERGE : This is a " DESK" in the lobby, which is responsible for loading or unloading guests luggage and delivering it to their room and also collecting the luggage from them while checking out.
3) ROOM SERVICE & HOUSEKEEPING : The maintainenss of all guests rooms, service areas, common lobbies and areas is the major responsibility of the housekeeping department. Housekeeping department delivers meals and takes care of all needs of the guests and makes sure it is delivered in time and to their room. 
There are so many other different departments are engaged in hotel management course , like Collinery Craftsman Course in applied nutrition and catering technology, food cussing, food preparation and production. etc. 
Currently there are a total of 46 IHMS operational institutions are providing courses in hotel management, apart from that there are 21 IHM institutes are sponsored by the central government and other 25 IHM institutes are sponsored by the state government. 
NCHMCT - That is National Council Of Hotel Management And Catering Technology was established in 1982. NCHMCT the apex body which is responsible for the prospective organisations and growth of hospitality education in India. With the aim of dissemination of knowledge and reasearch in the field of houspitality management, hotel management, food management, catering technology and applied nutrition.
NCHMCT offers hospitality education through its affiliated institutes of hotel management.
There are plenty of private institutions also come under the overview of NCHMCT. 
There 25 private institutions in India and 1 PSU owned Institute and 14 other food crafts institutions are providing courses in hotel management.
These private institutions offers ll different courses in hotel management and food technology at the undergraduate and post graduate level of education. Depending upon the level of education, intrests and career ambitions of an aspirant. He/She can take admission to certificate diploma or a post graduate diploma in Bachelor of Science ( B.S.C) and also a diploma in Master Of Science ( M.S.C) in axise range of specialisations including, hospitality, hotel management, administration, as well as diploma in Collinery Craftsman Course, food production, Bekary & Confectionery, Beverages, housekeeping etc.
IHM& IIHM : Being a student you might be interested to know the difference between the two ? Alright, IHM institutes are sponsored by the government whereas IIHM is a private one. IHM institutes offers you a complete 3 years degree course as well as PG level diploma too , whereas IIHM offers only degree level program. Being a government recognized institution fees are quite less than compared to IIHM Being a private one. Both are significant number of similarities and differences altogether and impotance as well.
